Some Song Notes

The Coat: This song was inspired by seeing a young marine scout sniper inherit his grandfathers marine flight jacket.

Thats me: A song based upon a note found in a civil war soldiers things.

God fearing Country Man : dedicated to Phil Robison

Cows: This is my way of saying I love ranch life but I am probably better at other things.

The Crying over you: This song is one that reminds me of the bands I used to play with in Denton. It could use a great horn section.

Dance with the Devil: This is my “Leroy Brown” song and it is also based at least in part on something I heard a guy say before a bar fight broke out one night outside an Oklahoma Night Spot. The band and myself had seen so many fights at places we played that we were unfazed by the brawl but I remembered the words.

Gypsy Eyes: This is a song I wrote for acoustic guitar originally. It is about the eternal quest to meet your soul mate. I met mine so keep looking between the smiles and the blue blue sky.

Another Road Song: This song was also written as an acoustic guitar song originally but as recorded here it seems like a great arrangement to end the show with. I think of Willie Nelson when I sing it and I think he will like it.

Help me feel Good about today: This song was written during a time when so may of my close friends and family were burdened with one thing or another. I was fine but if we love people their pain is ours. It also recognized that we need each other to get through each day and a few kind words can do so much.

Chicken Shit: I had strep throat last year and spent most of the holidays on my back watching reality Television. My wife is always trying to get me to spend more time in the country and even bought me some snake proof boots because she thinks that I am afraid of getting bitten. The song had its inspiration in that and you will notice my voice is pretty much shot from the strep on the track.

Heifers need to hear a little bull. This song is a form of country un-rap. It is intended to poke fun at the shallow nature of the bar scene in some places.

That old cowboy: This is a true story. I have had the great privilege of sharing the stage with some of Nashville’s greats but when I was younger I was a little cocky about music and too cool for my own good. My skepticism about old a Grand Ole Opera senior citizen Singer was put to rest and I learned a valuable lesson.

We hold on: I dedicate this song to the people of Oklahoma and especially those from the city of More whose faith and strength through incredible devastation and hard ache are inspirational. A portion of the earnings from this song will go to the memorial.

Jim Beam: I wrote this as a follow up to the Beer Song which hit number one on the Indie Charts here and abroad. It’s for those entire honky Tonk Women that keep us on out toes.

Oklahoma Smile: Is for my wife and all the other hard working women who support their men and always have a smile no matter how tough things get

Almost Perfect: Seeking inspiration one day I read poems by some of the great poets of the past 100 years and was inspired to write this song.
